Oxford Learning West Vancouver is looking for a positive, patient, and enthusiastic Elementary Reading, Writing & Math Tutor to join our team.
This is a great opportunity for university students, recent graduates, education students, experienced tutors, and educators who enjoy working with children.
Teaching certification is not required.
About the Role
You'll work with elementary-aged students in a supportive small-group environment, typically working with up to three students at a time.
Students follow individualized Oxford Learning programs designed to strengthen their academic skills, confidence, and independence.
Depending on student needs, you'll help with areas such as:
Reading and phonics
Reading comprehension
Vocabulary
Grammar
Sentence and paragraph writing
Spelling
Elementary math
Study and learning skills
All programming and teaching materials are provided, so there is no lesson planning required.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who:
Genuinely enjoys working with children
Is warm, patient, positive, and encouraging
Has strong English communication skills
Is comfortable with elementary reading, writing, and math
Can explain concepts clearly and in different ways
Is dependable and punctual
Is willing to learn and receive feedback
Is currently completing or has completed post-secondary education
Can commit to a consistent weekly schedule throughout the school year
Previous experience tutoring, teaching, coaching, mentoring, babysitting, working at camps, or otherwise working with children is an asset.
Formal classroom teaching experience is not required.

Salary: $22 – $30 / hour, depending on qualifications, experience, subjects, and availability

Schedule
We are currently looking for candidates who can consistently work at least 2 days per week.
Weekday shifts: approximately 3:30PM–6:30 PM
Saturday shifts: also available
Consistent availability throughout the school year is strongly preferred.
