Part-Time Math Teacher/Tutor Grades 5–10

Oxford Learning Cambridge is currently seeking a part-time Math Teacher-Tutor to join our team. We are looking for someone who is confident teaching mathematics to students in Grades 5–10, from strengthening foundational skills through to supporting high school math.

This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working with students, is confident with numbers and problem-solving, and loves helping students build both their math skills and their confidence.

Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning do not have to create lesson plans before class, as programming and materials are provided. All applicants will be fully trained in Oxford Learning’s proprietary philosophy and teaching methods.

Position Requirements

Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work primarily during after-school and evening hours (3:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.), Monday through Thursday and Saturday mornings (9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.).

We are looking for someone who can make a consistent, reliable commitment throughout the school year. Continuing through the summer is even better! Our students benefit from consistency, so reliability is an important part of this role.

This is an in-person position at our Cambridge learning centre. Applicants must be able to commute to the centre. This is not a remote position. Relocation packages are not available.

A Vulnerable Sector Check is mandatory.

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following:

Education & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
• University students with strong math skills and relevant tutoring or teaching experience will be considered
• Strong knowledge of the Ontario Grades 5–10 math curriculum
• Confidence teaching intermediate and early high school math concepts, including fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, algebra, geometry, linear relations, equations, and problem-solving
• Experience teaching math beyond Grade 10 is a definite asset
• Strong English written and oral communication skills
• Ability to break down mathematical concepts and explain them in different ways
• Ability to work with students who may have gaps in foundational skills or lack confidence in math
• Ability to multitask and confidently work with up to three students at different levels at the same time

Experience

We are looking for candidates with:

• Experience teaching, tutoring, coaching, or otherwise supporting students in mathematics
• Confidence working with students across Grades 5–10
• Experience supporting high school mathematics
• An ability to connect with students who may feel frustrated, anxious, or discouraged by math
• Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive approach to learning
• Strong organization and communication skills
• Reliability and the ability to work as part of a team

Responsibilities

As an Oxford Learning Interactive Coach, you will:

• Teach up to three students at a time, often working at different grade and skill levels
• Provide individualized math instruction using Oxford Learning programming and materials
• Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
• Help students strengthen foundational skills while supporting current curriculum expectations
• Encourage students to become more independent and confident learners
• Complete post-lesson notes and student communication updates
• Communicate student progress and concerns with the Education Team
• Maintain a friendly, professional, and engaging learning environment

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $18 - $20 / hour

Schedule

• Monday to Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings
• Approximately 3:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
• Additional hours may be available based on student needs
