Part-Time / Casual Elementary (Primary Focused) Teacher/Tutor
Excited by early readers? Moved by math facts? Think a perfectly printed lowercase “a” is worth celebrating?
We are currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors at Oxford Learning London Bostwick who especially love working with students in Kindergarten through Grade 2, while also feeling comfortable supporting students through Grade 8.
This position is perfect for someone who gets genuinely excited about helping young learners build the foundations they will use throughout school, but who also enjoys working with older students as their skills become more complex and independent.
Our program helps students strengthen academic skills while also developing the cognitive and learning skills behind them. A love of teaching students HOW to learn is a must!
At Oxford Learning, we help students improve their academic and learning skills in a small-group setting. Our class sizes are small, with a maximum of three students per teacher.
While we are specifically looking for someone who loves working with our youngest learners, teachers at Oxford Learning work with a range of ages. During a shift, you may move from helping a Grade 1 student blend sounds and build early number sense to supporting a Grade 6 student with reading comprehension or a Grade 8 student with math. Being able to adjust your communication, energy, and teaching approach for different ages is an important part of the role.
With our youngest students, that means keeping learning structured, engaging, encouraging, and sometimes a little silly!
Our teachers explain and guide students through provided academic material while simultaneously helping them develop their cognitive learning skills.
You must follow Oxford Learning philosophies and methodologies, and full training will be provided.
You will not be required to lesson plan or create learning materials for students. We do that for you!
Your role also includes reporting on concepts covered and cognitive skills discussed, monitoring student progress, and ensuring programming moves at an appropriate pace. All of this is completed during your scheduled shift. You will never be expected to bring work home.
Classes at Oxford Learning St. Thomas take place during after-school hours, from 4pm–8pm Monday through Thursday, as well as Saturdays from 9am–12pm.
