Academic Support Lead

Working alongside the Centre Director, you will help create an exceptional learning experience for students while supporting teachers, guiding families, and ensuring the learning centre's daily success.

This is a full-time, in-person position. Applicants must be able to commute to the centre. Relocation assistance is not available.

About the Role

As the Academic Support Lead, you will partner closely with the Centre Director to oversee the learning centre's daily operations.

You'll be a leader, mentor, educator, and trusted resource for students, families, and teachers.

Every day is different... You may be welcoming a new family, coaching teachers, preparing individualized learning plans, teaching students, or ensuring the centre is running smoothly.


What You'll Do

Student & Family Success

  • Welcome prospective families and explain Oxford Learning programs
  • Conduct and administer student assessments
  • Develop individualized learning plans
  • Meet regularly with parents to discuss student progress
  • Prepare detailed student progress reports

Teaching & Academic Leadership

  • Teach students during afternoon and evening instructional hours
  • Support teachers in delivering high-quality instruction
  • Coach and mentor teaching staff
  • Ensure Oxford Learning teaching standards are consistently maintained

Centre Operations

  • Coordinate student and teacher schedules
  • Prepare the centre for daily operations
  • Support the Centre Director with day-to-day administration
  • Foster a welcoming, organized, and positive learning environment
  • Assist teachers whenever additional support is needed

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who possesses most of the following:

Education

  • University degree in Education, Mathematics, Languages, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • Fluent in both French and English (spoken, written, and reading)

Experience

  • Experience working in an educational environment
  • Previous teaching or tutoring experience
  • Experience leading or supervising a team
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and online communication tools

Compensation & Growth

Starting Salary: $20–22 per hour

  • Six-month probationary period
  • Performance review after six months
  • Opportunity to transition into a salaried leadership position based on performance
  • Includes two weeks of paid vacation during the holiday season (once salaried)

Schedule (Non-Negotiable)

As an after-school learning centre, our leadership team is present whenever students are learning.

July – August

  • Monday–Thursday: 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

September – June

  • Monday–Thursday: 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
