Oxford Learning Centre Thornhill is looking for an upbeat, passionate, committed, enthusiastic, and dynamic Education Director (maternity replacement) who is an academic champion.

As the Education Director, you will oversee the centre’s operations including Mastering the Oxford Learning teaching philosophy and maintaining an environment that ensure the Oxford Learning philosophy is delivered consistently, Coaching and training other teachers, administering cognitive assessments to students, establishing student programming and overseeing students’ progress, maintaining contact with current parents and meeting with them to discuss their child’s progress, as well as reaching out to past families to reengage them with our services; and teaching as needed. In addition, the Director will be responsible for client intakes and selling services to new clients and up-selling to existing clients. Candidates will also assist with promoting the centre. Candidates must possess a strong passion for seeing students succeed and must be comfortable teaching students when required.

The position will include, but is not limited to, the following duties:

  • Educate inquiring parents about the Oxford Learning program and the benefits to their children
  • Administer our Dynamic Assessment
  • Hire, train and support our teaching staff on an ongoing basis
  • Prepare and update individualized programs for students using Oxford Learning curriculum
  • Meet regularly with parents to discuss student progress and build trust
  • Create a fun and energetic learning environment
  • Train and support our teaching staff on an ongoing basis
  • Greet children and parents in a friendly and professional manner
  • Meet regularly with schools and organizations to build community awareness and promote the Oxford Learning programs
  • Manage daily administrative operations, including answer phones, emails and engage with walk-in inquiries, update student records and process invoices
  • Prepare schedules on a daily basis for Teachers and Students
  • Have customer service and some sales experience, to help increase sales
  • Participate in, deliver, and implement marketing initiatives
  • Experience teaching and an understanding of the Ontario Curriculum

The successful candidate must meet, or exceed, the following criteria:

  • Strong leadership and motivational skills
  • Can work in a fast-paced environment
  • Scheduling Flexibility
  • Personable, friendly, out-going, creative, confident, and energetic
  • Exceptional English language written and oral communication skills
  • Undergraduate or post-secondary qualification, a degree in education, or equivalent experience
  • Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification or equivalent would be a strong asset
  • Excellent organization skills and multitasking abilities
  • Have a great sense of humour
  • Previous Experience managing in a similar environment
  • Oral and written French is an asset
  • Previous management experience at an Oxford Learning Centre or other learning/tutoring centre would be a strong asset

We ask that the candidate be able to work 3-4 afternoons, evenings a week Monday-Thursday (until 7:30 pm) and Saturday mornings.
