Do you love working with young children and helping them discover the joy of reading?
Oxford Learning West Vancouver is looking for a warm, energetic, and patient Little Readers Teacher/Tutor to work with our youngest students and help them build strong foundations in reading, language, and learning.
This is a great opportunity for university students, recent graduates, education students, early childhood educators, experienced tutors, and teachers who genuinely enjoy working with young children.
Teaching certification is not required.
About Little Readers
Our Little Readers program supports young learners as they develop the foundational skills they need for school and become confident, enthusiastic learners.
You'll work with young students on skills such as:
Letter recognition and sounds
Phonics
Early reading
Vocabulary and language development
Listening and comprehension
Early writing skills
Number sense and early math
Attention and learning skills
All programming and teaching materials are provided, so there is no lesson planning required.

The right person for this role is someone who:
Loves working with young children
Is warm, enthusiastic, patient, and encouraging
Can make learning engaging and fun
Has strong English communication skills
Is comfortable teaching early reading, phonics, and foundational skills
Can keep young learners engaged and focused
Is dependable and punctual
Is comfortable receiving training and feedback
Can commit to a consistent weekly schedule throughout the school year
Previous experience working with young children is strongly preferred.

Job Type: Part-Time
Salary: $22 – $30 / hour, depending on qualifications, experience, subjects, and availability
Consistent weekly hours
All teaching materials and programming provided
No lesson planning

Schedule
We are looking for candidates who can consistently work at least 2 days per week.
Weekday shifts: approximately 3:30PM–6:30 PM
Consistent availability throughout the school year is strongly preferred.

A psychology, linguistics, English, or child development student/graduate
An early childhood educator
An education assistant
An experienced tutor
A teacher looking for additional part-time hours
A camp leader, coach, childcare provider, or mentor with experience working with young children
A university student or recent graduate who loves working with kids
Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory
