Part-Time Elementary Teacher/Tutor Wanted

Love working with kids? Passionate about helping students build skills, confidence, and a love of learning?

Oxford Learning Cambridge is currently seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Part-Time Elementary Teacher/Tutor to join our team.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with elementary students and is confident supporting a variety of subjects, including reading, writing, spelling, and math. Whether you’re a certified teacher, teacher candidate, or experienced tutor, this is a great opportunity to gain hands-on teaching experience and make a meaningful difference for students.

Best of all, there is no lesson planning to take home. Student programs and lessons are prepared for you, and all teacher-tutors receive training in Oxford Learning’s teaching methods and philosophy.

Position Requirements

Our teacher-tutors work during after-school and evening hours Monday to Thursday from 3:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m., as well as Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

We are looking for someone who can commit to a consistent weekly schedule.

Our students thrive on consistency, so reliability and regular attendance are extremely important in this role.

This is an in-person position at our Cambridge learning centre. Applicants must be able to commute to the centre. This is not an online position, and relocation packages are not available.

A Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

Education

We encourage you to apply if you have most of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • University students with significant teaching or tutoring experience will also be considered
  • Teaching certification is an asset but is not required
  • Strong knowledge of elementary-level curriculum
  • Confidence supporting students in reading, writing, spelling, and math from Kindergarten through Grade 8

Experience & Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience teaching, tutoring, coaching, or working with children
  • Strong written and oral English communication skills
  • The ability to explain concepts clearly and in different ways when needed
  • A patient, positive, and encouraging approach to working with students
  • Strong organization and time-management skills
  • The ability to multitask and work effectively with up to three students at different academic levels
  • A willingness to learn and consistently follow Oxford Learning’s established teaching methods
  • A genuine interest in helping students become more confident and independent learners

Responsibilities

As an Oxford Learning Teacher-Tutor, you will:

  • Teach up to three students at a time, each working on their own individualized program
  • Provide instruction in reading, writing, spelling, math, and other elementary subjects based on student needs
  • Follow prepared student programs and lesson plans
  • Use Oxford Learning’s teaching methods and strategies
  • Adapt your explanations and teaching approach to meet different learning needs
  • Complete brief post-lesson notes and student progress updates
  • Encourage students to develop stronger learning skills, independence, and confidence
  • Maintain a friendly, engaging, and professional learning environment

Smiles, High-Fives & Happy Students

At Oxford Learning, you’ll have the opportunity to build relationships with your students and see their skills and confidence grow over time.

There are no lessons to plan at home and no stacks of marking to take with you after your shift. Your time at Oxford Learning is focused on what matters most: teaching, encouraging, and connecting with students.

Other benefits of the role include:

  • Comprehensive training
  • Ongoing coaching and feedback
  • Hands-on development of your teaching skills
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Consistent students and the opportunity to see their progress over time
  • Opportunities for growth within the centre
