French Tutor (Bilingual – Part-Time, In-Person)

Are you passionate about the French language and enjoy helping students build confidence in their communication skills?

Oxford Learning Halifax is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable bilingual French Tutor to work with students of various ages and levels. In this role, you will help students strengthen their French language skills while building confidence in both academic and real-world communication.

This is an in-person position at our Halifax (Quinpool Road) location, with occasional shifts in Bedford.

What You’ll Do

• Teach up to 3 students at a time using Oxford Learning’s structured, pre-planned programs
• Provide individualized instruction in French and English as needed
• Support students in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills
• Complete brief post-lesson notes and track student progress
• Foster a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment
• Build rapport with students while maintaining a professional and structured approach

Schedule & Availability

• Evenings (4:00 pm – 7:00 pm or 4:00 pm – 8:30 pm), Monday – Thursday
• Saturday availability (9:30 am – 2:00 pm) in Bedford (as needed)
• Minimum 2–3 shifts per week required
• Must be able to commute within the HRM area

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in French, Education, or a related field
• Fluency in both French and English (spoken and written)
• Experience tutoring, teaching or coaching students is preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and work with students at different levels
• Reliable, patient, and engaging personality

Nice to Have 

• Experience teaching French as a second language (FSL)
• Teaching certification or working toward a B.Ed
• Experience with a range of age groups (elementary to high school)
• Long-term availability (year commitment or longer)

Salary / Compensation

• $18 – $20 / hour to start
