Part-Time Science Elementary & High School Tutor

Our hours count–gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning Brampton Churchville is currently seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Science Tutor who is a subject matter expert and possesses the ability to engage and inspire students across all grade levels, from elementary through Grade 12. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in various scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science.

Position Overview: As a Tutor at Oxford Learning, you will have the opportunity to work with Elementary students in reading, writing, math and French and/or with High School students in math (through Calculus), physics, chemistry, biology, and English. Our Tutors do not have to worry about lesson planning, as all lessons are pre-planned. You will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods, allowing you to focus on what you do best – teaching!

Position Requirements

  • Availability during after-school and evening hours (3:00pm - 8:00pm)
  • Availability during Saturdays (10:00am - 2:00pm)
  • Mandatory vulnerable sector screening

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Third-year university students with tutoring experience will be considered
  • Working towards or having a teaching certification is an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum

Experience:

  • Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Kindergarten to Grade 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding
  • The ability to teach French is also highly desired
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities:

As an Interactive Coach, you will:

  • Teach up to 3 students at a time in Elementary grades or up to 2 students at a time in grades 10 - 12
  • Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Complete daily student communication updates and monthly progress reports
  • Maintain a friendly and professional demeanour at all times (create a fun learning environment)
