Are you a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic French speaker? Join the team at Oxford Learning Ancaster as a part-time French teacher/tutor/coach. Ignite your passion for helping students succeed – en français! 

We teach students HOW to learn French, help them improve their academic and study skills in a small group setting, and have a lot of fun! Our class sizes are small, with a maximum of three students per teacher. We provide all of the curriculum and lessons. Teachers do not need to plan the lessons. Our teachers explain and guide students through the provided material and help them talk about their understanding. 

Position Requirements

All Teachers at Oxford Learning Ancaster work during after-school and evening hours (4:00 pm - 8:00 pm) and some Saturdays (10:00 am - 3:00 pm).

A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred. Continuing through the summer is even better. Your students will love working with you, and reliability is necessary. 

Candidates must possess a strong background in spoken and written French and English and be comfortable teaching up to Grade 12. They are required to instruct class sessions in French.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location.

This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Third-year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 French core curriculum

Experience:

  • Some experience teaching/tutoring French at Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong French skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
  • Experience in teaching other subjects and courses is an asset.

Responsibilities (Position Details)

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teaching online and in-person
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in post-lesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times

Schedule:

  • Evenings: Monday to Thursday between 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
  • Saturday availability from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
