Full-Time Junior/Intermediate Teacher Wanted

Gain valuable teaching experience! We are currently seeking a full-time teacher for our private school at Oxford Learning Academy Milton. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys teaching the ins and outs of various subjects and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas. 

Teacher at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and delivery of creative, innovative and comprehensive classroom programming Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. Two days per week, the teacher will be running afterschool clubs from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Reporting to the Principal of the Oxford Learning Academy private school, you will have an extensive knowledge of Ontario curriculum requirements. You are an OCT-certified teacher with Junior/Intermediate qualifications.

The successful candidate is enthusiastic, articulate and a creative teacher who communicates with ease and confidence. You are comfortable engaging in innovative and diverse individualized programming. You are a critical thinker who demonstrates initiative, integrity and attention to detail.

Position Requirements:

Must be able to commit to training during July and August, and working from the end of August 2024 to June 2025 from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Ontario Teacher Certification with Junior/Intermediate Qualifications required
  • Teaching experience in the Junior or Intermediate division
  • Additional Qualifications – AQ courses (an asset)
  • Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 9 curriculum

Experience:

  • Work experience in the Independent School environment (an asset)
  • Must have experience with Smartboard Technology is a must
  • Must be punctual with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Fluent English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding

Responsibilities (Position Details):

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching a class of 12 students
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in post-lesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times

Salary: $26 - $28 / hour

Benefits

The successful candidate will be eligible for teacher benefits for themselves and their family members, including medical and dental coverage after the successful completion of the probationary period. Based on our school’s timetabled teaching week, a homeroom teacher that completes one school year successfully will receive an FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) of 1.00 unit reported to the board of education.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm
  • Including two days per week from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm for afterschool clubs
