Part-Time Elementary/High School Teacher (Educator/Tutor)

Are you living in or around Burlington, Ontario and have availability two evenings a week (Monday and Wednesday) from 4-8 or 5-8pm?

Oxford Learning Burlington South is looking for patient and reliable educators with an awesome personality, a passion for helping others succeed, and the ability to teach mathematics to the Grade 10 level. Candidates must possess a strong background in English and math and be comfortable and confident teaching elementary and high school students.

Position Requirements:

This position is during after-school and evening hours on Monday and Wednesday evenings (4-8pm or 5-8pm). A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred. Continuing through the summer is even better. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must. 

Private tutoring or tutoring for another organization is considered a conflict of interest and is not allowed. Working for public education (e.g., HDSB or HCDSB) is allowed and encouraged.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. The position is in-person but requires the ability to teach online depending on demand. Relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory. All educators will need to complete a competency test (for English or math) before being hired.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current school curriculum

Experience:

  • Some experience teaching/tutoring up to Grade 10 level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities (Position Details):

You will work directly with students with the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teaching online and in-person
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in post-lesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times

Salary: $18 - $20 / hour
