Summary

We are seeking a passionate Tutor to join our team at Oxford Learning Centre in Canada. In this role, you will play a crucial part in helping students reach their full potential by utilizing our Interactive Coaching method, ensuring they not only understand the material but also enjoy the learning process.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Completing daily student communication updates, including post-lesson notes
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
  • Minimum availability must include Wednesdays and Thursdays

This is an on-site tutor position. You must be able to reliably commute to our location. Tutoring hours are Monday to Thursday 3pm-8pm, and Saturdays 9am-2pm. Please include your work availability when applying. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Math/Science related field
  • Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 7-12 Math and Science Ontario curriculum, particularly senior-level Math including, but not limited to, Advanced Functions, Calculus, Data Management, and Physics
  • Knowledge of Biology and Chemistry is a strong asset
  • Proficiency in French is a strong asset

Experience:

  • Some experience teaching/tutoring Math and Science at a Grade 7 to 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Experience working with children ranging from 12-17 years old is required
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong Math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
