High School Math & Chemistry Tutor

Gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning Burlington South is currently seeking part-time Tutors/Teachers for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.
Tutors/Teachers at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.
Position Requirements
All Teachers at Oxford Learning Burlington South work during after-school and evening hours and we are currently hiring for Monday/Wednesday 3pm-6pm (must be available both days), and Tuesday/Thursday 3pm-6pm (must be available both days). Additional hours may also be available.
This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available.
Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.
We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
Teaching certification an asset
Fourth-year university students with extensive tutoring experience and current teacher candidates will be considered
Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum, particularly Grade 11 and 12 Math and Chemistry.
Experience:
Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
Strong English written and oral communication skills
Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities
You will work directly with students and have the following responsibilities:
Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
Teaching in-person
Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
Filling in post-lesson notes
Completing daily student communication updates
Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
The tutor/teacher supports students with varying needs, abilities and grade levels
A high level of flexibility is required as well as knowledge of behaviour management strategies, exceptional attention to detail and great multitasking. It is a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Part-time
Salary Range: $19 / hour
Schedule:
Our teaching hours are Monday to Thursday, 3pm-8pm
Currently hiring for Monday/Wednesday 3pm-6pm, and Tuesday/Thursday 3pm-6pm
