High School Math/ Physics /Chemistry Tutor Wanted

Our hours count! Gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning Ancaster is currently seeking part-time tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills.
Teachers at Oxford Learning Ancaster do not have to plan lessons before class, as all lessons are pre-planned.
Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.
Position Requirements
All Oxford Learning tutors work during after-school and evening hours (4:00 pm - 8:00 pm) and some Saturdays (10:00 am - 1:00 pm). A commitment until the end of the school year in June is preferred (School year 2024-2025). Continuing through the summer is even better. Your students will love working with you, and reliability is necessary.
This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.
We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
Third-year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
Teaching certification an asset
Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior math, including, but not limited to, advanced functions, algebra, trigonometry and calculus, as well as vectors, Physics, and chemistry.
Experience:
Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
Strong knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum for High School math and sciences
Strong English written and oral communication skills
Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities (Position Details)
You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:
Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
Teaching online and in-person
Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
Filling in post-lesson notes
Completing daily student communication updates
Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
Smiles, High-Fives & Happy Students
In this position, you will play a key role in helping students develop their self-confidence and self-esteem. Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $19 / hour
Schedule:
A minimum of 2 evenings weekly
Monday to Thursday between 4 pm and 8 pm
Saturday availability from 10 am to 1 pm
