Oxford Learning Bayview Woods is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for roles in our learning centre for the upcoming school year (2024-2025). If you love working with students, enjoy teaching language skills, and want to help others build their academic confidence, this position is perfect for you.

Position Overview: As a Teacher-Tutor at Oxford Learning,your goal is not only to assist students with their immediate schoolwork but also to address any skill gaps they may have to ensure their long-term success  Our Teacher-Tutors do not have to worry about lesson planning, as all lessons are pre-planned. You will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods, allowing you to focus on what you do best – teaching!

Position Requirements

• Availability during after-school and evening hours (3:00 pm - 8:00 pm)
• Commitment through to the end of the 2025 school year (June 30th), with the possibility of continuing through the summer
• In-person instruction
• Ability to commute to the designated location
• Mandatory vulnerable sector screening

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
• Third-year university students with tutoring experience will be considered
• Working towards or having a teaching certification is an asset
• Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum

Experience:

• Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Grade 9 to Grade 12 (or equivalent) level
• Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding
• The ability to teach French is also highly desired
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities:

As an Interactive Coach, you will:

• Teach up to 2 students at a time in Grades 9 - 12
• Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
• Complete daily student communication updates and monthly progress reports
• Maintain a friendly and professional demeanour at all times (create a fun learning environment)
